Escape the Gaudí crowds and experience Barcelona like a local on our intimate evening stroll through the Raval and Gothic Quarter. With an expert, local guide leading the way, you’ll explore the cobbled streets and squares of this atmospheric neighborhood, ducking into wine bars, tapas bars and even a local beer factory, to experience a local flavor of Barcelona.
We’ve combined a Barcelona tapas tour and wine tour with a cultural walking tour of the city. Travelling with a passionate guide, you’ll see the city from a local’s perspective, visiting our favorite bars and exploring La Boqueria food market.
Our evening starts with a little local history at a beer factory founded in 1856. Here we’ll see how their traditional beer is brewed and try a mini brew. It’s not just beers however, we’ll kick off our Barcelona wine tours with a tasting flight of four of the best wines from their wide range, alongside local delicacies such cheese and sobrasada, specially chosen to complement the wines.
Then it’s on to La Boqueria Market. This is the culinary heart of Barcelona – where fresh fruit and vegetables are sold alongside local delicacies and a huge array of fresh fish. Your guide will introduce you to Spain’s native cheese and meats, teaching you how to find the best foods for your palate and which local favourites you should bring home.
All this talk of food will do wonders for your appetite so we’ll go next to a local bar. Here we’ll have another drink and more tapas before embarking on a walking tour through the Barri Gòtic, the Gothic Quarter.
As you walk, your guide will tell you the stories that bring this area to life. You’ll hear tales of one-time residents such as Gaudí and spot the architectural details you may not have noticed on your own.
Our Barcelona tapas tour continues at our next stop, one of the city’s most famous tapas bars. We’ve kept your food and drink options open here so you have the opportunity to explore local delicacies that interest you.
With small group sizes of only 12 people or fewer, your guide will have time to help you in your selection, teaching you what each dish means and tempting you to try something you may not have opted for on your own. Smaller group sizes also mean that your experience throughout the evening will be intimate – more like a group of new friends embarking on a tapas crawl than a formal tour.
Of course if you really want to experience Barcelona like a local, you’ll have to adhere to all of the local customs, which brings us to our final stop. End your evening of indulgence just as the locals do with warm churros and chocolate in our favourite churro spot. Churros and chocolate are a Barcelona institution and the perfect way to round up a satisfying evening of food, wine and conversation.
